Cookie Dough Fundraiser Orders Due Friday

Support Skinner West PTO by offering delicious cookie dough to family, friends, and coworkers. Packets must be turned in with payment by Friday, March 8. Orders will be at the school on report card pickup day, April 10.

African American Hero Wax Museum

Classroom Connections - 3rd Grade

Students in 3rd grade made history come alive during their African American Hero Wax Museum! All third grade students celebrated Black History Month by researching an African American Hero in their homeroom Social Studies classes. They then wrote a speech, and memorized the speech in order to portray their African American Hero.

Thank you to all the students, staff and parents that attended our Wax Museum last week. The students enjoyed dressing the part and presenting to you!

GALLERY 111 GALA

Thank you to everyone - parents, teachers, community members - who attended and supported Gallery 111's Annual Gala on Saturday. It was a great night for all who attended and the money raised from the auction will again support the arts education of all Skinner Superstars.

Star Families-

When picking up your child/children from Star Program, please enter and exit through the doors on the Adams side of the building. For safety reasons, parents are not allowed to enter or exit the Monroe side doors during after school hours.

Earn a Free Ticket to Comic Expo

Students- Earn a FREE ticket to C2E2- Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo!

C2E2's Power Up to Read program is offering Skinner Students the opportunity to earn a free ticket to C2E2, as well as a 50% off ticket for parents.

To earn a free ticket, students must complete a Power Up to Read Reading Log with information on 8 books they have read between February 1st and March 9th. Skinner received program materials this week, and reading logs are being sent home with the students. Please note- the books students use to complete the reading log can be from anywhere, not just the school library!

Please return completed logs to Ms. Ranftl in the library on

Monday, March 11th.

Music House and Mad Science Spring Break Camp

Music House and Mad Science are partnering up to bring Skinner Superstars a Spring Break Camp (April 15th -19th). Campers will spend half their day doing a variety of hands-on fun science activities and the other half of their day with Music House in fun-focused visual arts, music, dance and theater classes.

Annex Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

On Sunday, February 24th, Skinner Superstars and Families welcomed

Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Alderman Walter Burnett at the Grand Opening Ceremony of our new Annex. The four-story annex has provided Skinner with the much needed twenty-two new classrooms.
